Dogs are great. Dogs in fancy dress are even better. Dogs in fancy dress racing each other is literally amazing.
In Melbourne, Australia they have taken this concept to heart with the annual Teckelrennen Hophaus Dachshund Race.
The event sees a number of the cutest and smallest Dachshunds, wearing their finest outfits, race down a 15 metre track.
It has been appropriately named 'The Running of the Wieners' and includes a Best Dressed Dachshund Competition.
Of course, nobody has turned up to see the race as the costumes and the dogs are the true stars of the day.

The event is held every year in Melbourne to celebrate the start of Oktoberfest in the city.
Money raised during the day goes to Dashchund Rescue Australia.
According to the Hophaus website they managed to raise an incredible $4,050 for the foundation.
Enough to brighten any miserable Monday afternoon.
