Resurfaced video shows Tiger King's Joe Exotic saying it's 'pathetic' that white people can't use the N-word

Joe Exotic, the star of Netflix’s hit-new docuseries, Tiger King, thinks it’s “discrimination” that he can’t say the N-word.

The new series follows the lives of several large cat owners across the US – including the “Tiger King” himself, Joe – as well as animal rights activist and owner of Big Cat Rescue, Carole Baskin.

Without giving too much away, it features animal conservation, drugs, polygamy, murder plots and cult leaders.

But in a resurfaced video, Exotic claimed it’s “absolutely pathetic” that he can’t use the widely-accepted offensive word:

What’s going on here in this country? It’s absolutely pathetic. I can’t say the N-word but you can get on YouTube and watch any black man’s rap video and they’re calling each other the N-word. What the hell! Is this discrimination? I’m white – they can say the N-word and I can’t?

Short answer for you, Joe – no, you can’t. But let’s break it down for you, Joe, if you’re confused...

The N-word has a long history of being used as a slur against black people. It’s not for white people to reclaim and never will be, so just don’t say it.

The response to the resurfaced video was a lot of disappointment:

But also, no one was really *that* shocked:

It's depressing that this still needs to be said in 2020, but then again 2020 is definitely the worst year of all time so it's not too surprising.
