Republican lawyer mocked for using a shopping bag instead of a briefcase at Trump impeachment hearings

In terms of jokes and gaffes, the Trump impeachment hearings haven't been the most eventful, but that all briefly changed on Monday, thanks to Republican lawyer Steve Castor.

Castor is serving as the minority counsel in the impeachment inquiry against Donald Trump, arrived at Monday's hearing not carrying a briefcase or Filofax but a shopping bag full of his documents.

Yes, that is a man in his mid-40s (46, to be exact), attending a very important hearing, with potentially huge implications, armed with not much more than a bag-for-life from the chain 'The Fresh Market.'

Trump must have the highest confidence in this chap after seeing this.

As you can imagine, once footage of this appeared on social media, people couldn't resist making jokes.

Even The Fresh Market's Twitter account got involved, announcing that they are 'the official briefcase maker of Steve Castor.'
