Before he became president, Donald Trump warned that Barack Obama would be the one to start a war with Iran.
But after Trump ordered an air strike killing Iran's most powerful military commander early this morning, many are now saying that it's the current US President who risks war between the two countries.
Between 2012 and 2013, Donald Trump tweeted repeatedly that then-president Barack Obama would start a war with Iran – saying that Obama would do so because he was "desperate", "in order to get elected" and "because of his inability to negotiate properly".
Of course, Obama never did start a war with Iran. Instead, he brokered the Iran nuclear deal which saw the lifting of economic sanctions on Iran in return for the country agreeing to limit its nuclear programme. This deal was abandoned under Trump.
And now, with the death of General Qasem Soleimani, it remains to be seen how Iran might retaliate.
