RFK Jr brags about ‘sweeping public health reforms’ - amid multiple food recalls

They say a week is a long time in politics, but on Sunday, US health secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr pointed out that it had been two years since he appeared at a Trump campaign rally in Arizona back in August 2024 and threw his support behind Trump and his plans for public health.

Taking to X/Twitter, RFK Jr wrote: “Two years ago today, President Trump and I promised we would Make America Healthy Again.

“Now, just 19 months into the Trump administration, HHS [Health and Human Services] has delivered the most sweeping public health reforms in modern history.”

This was accompanied by a video of him being introduced on stage by Trump at the rally, who said RFK Jr has been “an incredible champion for so many of these values that we all share”.

RFK Jr is then heard saying: “Don’t you want a safe environment for your children? Don’t you want to know that the food that you’re feeding them is not filled with chemicals that are going to give them cancer and chronic disease? And don’t you want a president that’s going to make America healthy again?”

Except, people were quick to point out the many food recalls issued in America over risks of salmonella, E. coli and the explosive diarrhoea-causing parasitic infection known as cyclosporiasis:

One account wrote: “My guy, the list of food that we can no longer eat, because it’s infested with deadly bacteria, is longer than the hand written version of our entire Constitution”:

Another commented: “Two years ago they promised they would make America healthy again. Now salads give you diarrhea and there’s glass in bread. You’re welcome”:

And journalist Molly Jong-Fast called on RFK Jr to resign:
