Science suggests gaming makes you smarter

Despite evidence to the contrary it appears that gaming is an indication of better cognitive function.

That's according to a new study which compared the MRI scans of 27 expert (regional or national champion) video gamers and 30 amateurs.

The research, published in Nature, found expert players had superior connectivity in their brains (specifically in their anterior and posterior insular subregions) and also had more grey matter, which processes information in the brain.

The study authors recommend further research on the matter to see if playing video games directly causes the increased grey matter and enhanced connectivity.
