You remember Barney the dinosaur, right?
Picture: PBS
He sang, he danced; he imparted crucial life lessons in bitesize chunks for kids of all ages.
Well, the man under the dinosaur suit has found himself a new profession – as a tantra sex therapist.
A three or four hour tantric session with David Joyner will put you out $350 (£245), according to Vice.
With that you can expect a ritual bath, chakra balancing and a special massage that is supposed to release your inner goddess by way of a “full body orgasm”.
Speaking to journalist Rebekah Sager, he recalls his stint as Barney fondly:
The energy I brought up [while] in the costume is based on the foundation of tantra, which is love.
Before I got into the [Barney] costume, I would pray and ask God to allow his loving divine spirit to flow through me through the costume and let that draw the kids. That energy would always draw them in.
Now, he channels that “love” into something much, much different. Discussing his clients, who he refers to as “goddesses”, he says the most distilled way they can experience “a higher and more blissful state of awareness” is through penetrative, unprotected sex.
A number of other tantra and sex therapists disagree that this needs to be done – but he insists and provides his clients with STD test results.
Where do these clients come from?
He says he finds clients on social dating apps like Tinder, as well as word-of-mouth.
Testimonials appear to attest to his success rate, with one woman thanking him for allowing her to:
Use my goddess energy to create love, peace and joy through my sexuality. In the past, I feared unleashing this energy I knew I possessed. It came to a point that if I didn’t release this powerful energy, I would become spiritually dead which would have ultimately destroyed my life.
