Get Out actor Daniel Kaluuya won the EE Rising Star award at the Baftas – the only award that is voted for entirely by the public.
Kaluuya seemed surprised when they announced his name, going blank at one point and accidently pointing out that there’s a count down to how long he has with the speech.
However, it was his reaction during a backstage interview with a BBC reporter that warmed people's hearts.
Asked about the win, he said:
Yeah it’s just a bit surreal. It’s a bit surreal. Of course it is – I got a Bafta, bruv! I got this.
I checked it. I was like, nah nah, they didn’t lie.
We’ve been working hard man, it’s the summation of everything and to be in London to do it is just surreal.
I put the hard work in. It’s been a mad few months. It’s been a mad year.
This is going to my mum. She did all the work.
