Gwyneth Paltrow completely forgot that she appeared in a Spider-Man movie

When you are an actor like Gwyneth Paltrow who has been working in film and television since the late 80s you are bound to forget one or two things that you would have starred in.

However, it's unlikely that most people would forget a blockbuster where they were one of the top-billed supporting cast members in a movie that grossed $880m worldwide.

Yet that's exactly what happened to Paltrow when she forgot that she starred in Spider-Man: Homecoming in 2017 as part of the characters first solo movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

This revelation came to light thanks to a clip that has been shared from the new Netflix series The Chef Show, where she was appearing alongside her Marvel colleague Jon Favreau, who has produced the series for Netflix.

In the clip, Paltrow asks Favreau what the show is about and he explains that they started filming it during the making of Spider-Man. He states:

We were actually doing it when we were filming Spider-Man. That was the first time, we just brought a film crew with us down to Atlanta and we cooked at the Optimist.

This news startles Paltrow, who seems to have no recollection of ever being in this movie. Favreau adds:

Yeah, we were in Spider-Man together. Remember we were on Spider-Man?

This sets up a very awkward few moments where Paltrow defiantly tries to state that she didn't star in a movie that she definitely wasn't in, instead of trying to claim that she was in one of the Avengers movies, which is true but they aren't talking about those films.

Favreau then has to lay out one of the scenes that Paltrow featured in in order to jog her memory.

Remember, Spider-Man at the end, and Tom Holland's there and you're going to walk out and do a press conference?

At this point the penny finally drops.

Oh yes! That was Spider-Man? Oh my god.

The clip has already gone viral and people think that it is hilarious.

Although her character, Pepper Potts, the other half of Tony Stark, was hardly the most important character in the movie, she was involved in a pivotal scene right at the climax of the film, where Spider-Man decides that he doesn't want to join the Avengers and Stark proposes to Potts.

She was also billed above the likes of Marisa Tomei and Zendaya, who had much bigger roles in the movie but it probably says more about the endless stream of Marvel movies and how, after a while, they all blend into one, especially when many feature the same actors so maybe we can let Gwyneth off on this one.
