18 of the best fan reactions to the new Prince Charles and Princess Diana in The Crown

The first images of Dominic West and Elizabeth Debicki as the new Prince Charles and Princess Diana in The Crown have been unveiled and fans already cannot wait to see the next season of the Netflix show.

The two actors take over from Josh O’Connor and Emma Corrin in the roles for the fifth season, which will be set in the 1990s.

West, who is best known for his role as rogue detective Jimmy McNulty in The Wire, cuts a dapper figure in his picture and, although he doesn’t facially look like Charles, the hair is definitely on point. Debicki, who viewers may recognise from Tenet and Guardians of the Galaxy, looks much more solemn and contemplative in her picture.

Season five isn’t due to debut on Netflix until 2022 but fans have already had their thoughts on the first images and the cast of West and Debicki respectively.

Many are very impressed with how much Debicki looks like Diana and Corrin, her predecessor in the role.

However, opinions on West are a bit more divided.

Others have noticed that the considerable height difference between Debicki and Imelda Staunton, who is now playing the Queen, could prove tricky.

Also joining West, Debicki and Staunton in the new season are Jonny Lee Miller as prime minister John Major, Jonathan Pryce as Prince Philip and Lesley Manville as Princess Margaret.
