Last night the eagerly anticipated interview with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle aired on CBS - and it was full of harrowing revelations.

The couple spoke at length to Oprah Winfrey about their struggles with mental health, racism and their relationship with the palace.

Before the interview has even aired in the UK, speculation has been growing about how the next series of The Crown will incorporate the latest royal bombshell.

Poet and activist Amanda Gorman tweeted: “Meghan was the Crown’s greatest opportunity for change, regeneration, and reconciliation in a new era. They didn’t just maltreat her light--they missed out on it.”

She went on to say: “Meghan is living the life Diana should have, if only those around her had been as brave as she was. Meghan isn’t living a life without pain, but a life without a prison.”

Rory Bremner joked: “This new series of The Crown’s started early.”

Likewise, author Angie Thomas said: “Me acting like I’m an expert on the Royals because I watched every season of the Crown.”

Steve Gaizick said: “Writers and producers of The Crown watching this interview like”

Similarly, Candace Blessed wrote: “The writers of the Crown knowing that Season 5 just wrote itself.”

Israel Daramola tweeted: “Who is going to play Tyler Perry on The Crown ?”

Someone else said: “THE CROWN PRODUCERS BETTER BE WORKING OVERTIME BECAUSE THIS IS WHERE ITS AT. THIS IS THE SEASON FINALE #OprahMeghanHarry”

And one person summarised things nicely, saying: “In conclusion, the British monarchy is even worse than they’re portrayed in The Crown. #HarryandMeghanonOprah”
