Former American football star and disgraced celebrity O.J. Simpson has announced he is joining Twitter and shared a peculiar video to mark the occasion.
Simpson, whose not-guilty trial for the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman took place this month 25 years ago, said that he was going to have some fun on the social media site and had some 'getting even to do.'
Hey Twitter-world, this is yours truly. Now, coming soon to Twitter, you'll get to read all my thoughts and opinions on just about everything.
It should be a lot of fun, I've got a little getting even to do, so God bless. Take care.
Simpson who was released from prison in October 2017 after serving nine years for his involvement with a robbery in Las Vegas in 2007, is certainly a contentious figure in the annals of pop culture history and his arrival on Twitter has caused quite a buzz.
Just hours after posting the video, the 71-year-old already has more than 54,000 followers to the account, which appears to be run by OJ himself as he only follows four other accounts, one of which belongs to his son, Justin.
However, his sole tweet has already attracted the wrong sort of attention and his wording in the video has certainly attracted the wrong type of comments.
As you can imagine, there were also many tasteless jokes about his involvement in the aforementioned murder trial, which no one has ever been criminally convicted for.
Simpson was later found to be 'responsible for the murders' of the couple in a civil trial, which resulted in him paying millions of dollars in damages to their families in compensation.
