Chelsea Football Club has released a strong statement in response to a video which shows an apparent group of their supporters chanting about being racist and pushing a black man off a train.

The video, published by the Guardian, showed fans on a Metro train in Paris shortly before the club's Champions League tie against PSG on Tuesday night.

A group of supporters can be seen chanting “We’re racist, we’re racist, we’re racist – and that’s the way we like it, we like it” and twice pushing a black man out of the train as he tries to board.

In response, Chelsea said in a statement, released early Wednesday morning:

Such behaviour is abhorrent and has no place in football or society. We will support any criminal action against those involved, and should evidence point to the involvement of Chelsea season ticket holders or members the club will take the strongest possible action against them including banning orders.
