A tourist took a photo that looks like Australia thanks to an optical illusion

A chance photograph of a Darwin sunset has created a fortuitous map of Australia.

Kelly Matthews, who was visiting Darwin from Derby in Western Australia, took the below image while visiting the Darwin esplanade during a wedding.

She said she didn't realise the fortunate outline of the shrubbery until her friends pointed it out on Facebook.

She toldNT News:

After I took it all my friends said ‘It looks like a map of Australia’.

I’ve visited every state and territory in Australia now, so it’s like the map is complete, it’s perfect.

People overall praised the photo, but many commented that Tasmania had been left out.
