On Saturday, Ireland experienced a historic moment as the country voted resoundingly to overturn the abortion ban.
Two-thirds of Irish voters supported the yes campaign which vows to repeal the eighth amendment, which will effectively end its ban on abortion.
As the results were confirmed on Saturday evening a huge crowd gathered outside of Dublin Castle to celebrate this landmark event.
The name of Savita Halappanavar, the 31-year-old woman whose death after being denied an abortion in Ireland, was chanted by the crowds.
Prior to the confirmation of the results, the crowds were joyful and expectant of the final outcome but while they waited an unlikely star of the referendum emerged.
A dog. Yes, that's right. An innocent lovable pooch was hoisted up into the air like Simba in The Lion King and gained a huge cheer from the crowds.
A dog has just been held up like Simba and people went mad. #8thRef https://t.co/LcO01699Lz— Richard Chambers (@Richard Chambers) 1527353494
Perhaps unbeknownst to the dog, it soon became a viral hit online and everyone couldn't get enough of the hound.

The dog has since been identified as vizsla named Noah and I'll think you'll all agree that he is seriously cute.
@newschambers I know that dog! His name is Noah, he’s a vizsla, and he LOVES cuddles and love-bites 💕 https://t.co/YaKewC1Q39— Sarah Burchfield (@Sarah Burchfield) 1527361329
