Flat Earthers are planning their first cruise and everyone pointed out one major flaw

Flat Earthers from around the world are planning a cruise for their 2020 international conference, but they’ve failed to notice one major flaw in their plans.

The cruise will bring like-minded people together who believe that the earth does not have a north or south pole and is just a stationary plate with an 'ice wall' on the perimeter.

Promised to be the biggest, boldest, best adventure yet, Flat Earthers on the cruise will be able to enjoy restaurants, swimming pools and artificial surf waves.

But there’s just one problem for those looking to celebrate the flatness of the Earth – the navigational systems that cruise ships use are based on a spherical earth.

Henk Keijer, a former cruise ship captain, who sailed all over the globe during a 23-year career, told the Guardian:

Ships navigate based on the principle that the Earth is round.

Nautical charts are designed with that in mind: that the Earth is round.

Ships and other vessels use the same global positioning system used in cars, which involve 24 satellites orbiting the planet to provide information at all times.

As Keijer explained, there are 24 because of "the curvature of the Earth". On a flat surface, you would need at least three satellites to pinpoint a location through a process called triangulation.

Keijer added:

I have sailed 2 million miles, give or take.

I have not encountered one sea captain who believes the Earth is flat.
