8K televisions might seem like a fruitless purchase when you consider we’re waiting on the entertainment industry to catch up with the times and provide more ready-made content in the cutting edge format, but those already on the market that prove worth their money are not only pushing the industry into the future, but using powerful processors to upgrade the quality of the shows and movies you’re already watching for a colorfully lush, refined viewing experience in your own home. If you’re planning to go big already (8k works best on 65 inch screens and larger according to many sources), 8k is a no-brainer best bet and the television least likely to age poorly given the rapid-fire advances we often see in this type of technology.

And so begs the question: which of the current crop are living up to and exceeding expectations? As we’re still on the frontier of these big-ticket items, the options are fairly limited and all will set you back a significant chunk of change. Alas we browsed the top selling models out there and looked through reviews to figure out what’s bringing clarity and brilliance to pioneering tech-forward homes and found only a select few being purchased and reviewed often enough to truly judge, so we’ve included three here at different sizes and price points that help streamline the research process for users with different space and budget constraints. Read on to see what buyers are enjoying and with what they find fault when it comes to their latest home theater investments.

Put a down payment on one now, and be ready to host parties at your house just in time to use these best apps to stream NFL games when they kickoff.

You can trust our independent reviews. We may earn a commission from some of the retailers, but we never allow this to influence selections, which are formed from real-world testing, expert advice and our own research. This revenue helps to fund journalism across The Independent.

Samsung 65" Class Q900TS Series LED 8K UHD Smart Tizen TV

Bigger is better when it comes to 8K, and while this Samsung 65-incher is the smallest of this bunch, it still packs a punch when it comes to crisp, vibrant colors and movement.

“Brilliant TV, upscales beautifully,” one user sums up of their experience so far with the machine, adding the “zero edge is beautiful. WiFi, streaming, AirPlay - all seamless."

Samsung - 85" Class Q950TS Series LED 8K UHD Smart Tizen TV

Much like our last entry, this is another top-of-the-line 8k television but pumped up on digital steroids. Only two brave buyers have left reviews so far, but they seem pretty happy having exclaimed things like, "Great color ! Better than going to a movie theater!" One even goes so far as to say, "This is the best TV I have ever seen. I would recommend to everyone." If you have the 11k to spend, this might be the perfect gift for the whole family this holiday season.

Samsung 75 Inch Class 8K Ultra HD (4320P) HDR Smart QLED TV

If the first entry was too small and the second too large, we have your Goldilocks television right here: the Samsung 75-inch Class 8K Ultra HD that, at a significant amount less than it's big brother above, ranks a 4.8 out of 5 via a review section 97 mostly satisfied buyers strong. Glowing reviews see owners singing the model's praises with notes like, "This is the best TV I have owned. The picture is vibrant. The quality far exceeds others," and "Want to purchase a second for game room because picture is fantastic." Only three reviewers experienced troublesome issues, including one who had complaints with the television's "ambient" mode, but overall it is a safe bet this middle-of-the-road choice in size and value will be a good one for you and your family.
