As we say goodbye to outgoing President Barack Obama, the time is ripe to reflect on some of his most heartwarming, poignant moments in the limelight.
And who better to capture those than the White House's official photographer Pete Souza, who has documented Obama's eight years in office.
He estimates that he has taken some 2 million photos, and almost 7,000 are published on the White House Flickr account.
He compiles an annual list of all his favourite photographs from the year: the 'Year in Photos' gallery.
