Elon Musk is selling flamethrowers. To the public.

Because obviously no household is complete without one.

Musk initially tweeted:

A flamethrower is a super terrible idea. Definitely don’t buy one.

But in the unlikely event of a zombie apocalypse, he wants you to know that the flamethrower will have your back – guaranteed.

Musk is so sure that his flamethrower works against hoards of zombies, he’s willing to give you your money back if it doesn’t work (by that point your limbs may already be in said zombie hoard’s mouths, but those are petty details).

His confidence made some people suspicious: how can he be so sure? Does he possess…insider knowledge?

Musk swiftly clarified:

The self-professed ‘Zombie Defender’ (seriously, it’s in his bio) added:

The assertion that he wouldn't be able to find a factory big enough to make enough flamethrowers is arguably not logical.

In almost all films and series about the undead, their modus operandi is that they spread very quickly; therefore, there would be no demand for the mass production of flamethrowers on account of most of the world’s population already being zombies.

This leaves only scrappy Walking Dead- style survivors, who will be few and far between.

Musk's Boring Company, which is privately funded, intends to build underground tunnels to ease traffic congestion. Their merchandise, which includes the flamethrower and a hat, are reportedly to help raise the funds.

Musk said that over 7,000 flamethrowers have already been ordered. What could possibly go wrong?
