This social experiment shows how easily a 13-year-old boy can buy a gun

The gun control debate has once again reached fever pitch after another school shooting in the US last week.

While survivors of the massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, Florida demand gun safety reform, Donald Trump is focusing on mental health.

In a statement, the US President said:

We are committed to working with state and local leaders to help secure our schools, and tackle the difficult issue of mental health.

If the post-shooting push-pull between gun proponents and those who want tighter gun control feels all too familiar, that's because nothing has changed.

This social experiment, which shows just how easy for even children to get hold of a gun in the US, is just as relevant now as it was when originally shown in a 2014 segment of HBO's Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel.

In the video, a 13-year-old boy from Virginia was refused cigarettes, pornography, lottery tickets and alcohol for being too young.

But, minutes after arriving at a gun show, Simpson was able to buy a .22 caliber rifle from a private seller cash-in-hand.

The seller says:

It should shoot pretty good for you.
