McDonald's in Edinburgh asked by police to stop selling milkshakes during Farage visit

McDonald's in Edinburgh asked by police to stop selling milkshakes during Farage visit

Ever since both Tommy Robinson and Carl Benjamin have had a milkshake thrown all over them, launching a frothy drink at politicians as a form protest is apparently now a thing.

This can only be verified after police have asked a McDonald's branch in Edinburgh to stop selling milkshakes during a Nigel Farage rally that was being held nearby. The Brexit Party leader was addressing supporters at a rally at the Edinburgh Corn Exchange on Friday.

A sign, which appeared on the window of a McDonald's outlet close by, on New Market Road, read:

We will not be selling milkshakes or ice-creams tonight. This is due to a police request given recent events.

The move comes after a series of incidents involving a milkshake and far-right figures such as former leader of the English Defence League, Tommy Robinson, and current UKIP candidate Carl Benjamin. Robinson was unfortunate enough to have two milkshakes thrown at him in just two days, while Benjamin has been drenched by only one, but also had a close call with another shortly after.

A spokesperson for McDonald's confirmed that they stopped the sales of milkshakes and McFlurry's on Friday evening.

But while the fast-food chain stopped their milkshake sale, other restaurants have opened their doors wide.
