The number of written complaints about the NHS has dropped for the first time in six years, but these are the complaints that top the list.

Despite the absence of the £350 million that Vote Leave pledged in exchange for Brexit, NHS England has reported a decline in the number of written complaints they received in the financial year ending in 2016.

Good for you NHS! You go NHS!

According to NHS Digital there were 8,688 fewer complaints compared to the financial year 2014-15. This is the first time since 2010-11 that the number has fallen.

The data also included information regarding the complainants themselves, and what the complaints were about. There were 186,632 written complaints that related to a subject area of interest, with others relating to specific medics.

Statista has collated the data, and created this chart, which show what that 'communications' were the thing most commonly complained about in the NHS.

Contrary to popular belief, waiting times were further down the list than one might expect, and complaints regarding A&E were only 7th.

The total number of complaints received was a mere 198,739, so not very much paperwork at all for NHS administrators to deal with.
