Tinder transformed the dating landscape completely – ‘swiping right’ became the new way of saying ‘I want to get to know you romantically'.

Well, US company Abyss Creations has been developing realistic sex toys for over twenty years and their newest models - equipped with warm, life-like genitalia - will be released next year.

Founder Matt McMullen started the business with very realistic mannequins, he told Reddit users in an AMA:

My dolls started out as very realistic posable mannequins. Not really originally designed for sexual use. The reactions I got were overwhelmingly geared toward the potential use of them as a love doll, and I decided to go with the flow.

The dolls, with fully functioning genitalia can be customised, from the body type, skin tone and hair colour...

...to the nipple texture and nipple colour.

Even the type of pubic hair (if you are so inclined...)

McMullen also encourages people to develop emotional ties to their dolls...

I want to have people develop an actual emotional attachment to not only the robot but the actual character behind it…to develop some kind of love for this being.

While the standard doll is just over £6,000, the newer, incredibly lifelike models will reportedly go for £12,000 when released next year.

Author of Love and Sex with Robots, David Levy, told Mail on Sunday:

Synthetic skin embedded with electronic sensors will enable the robots to react with (artificial) pleasure as they are caressed by their owner-lovers, for example. And as Artificial Intelligence researchers improve the quality of computer-generated conversation, robots will develop the skills needed for seduction and the whispering of sweet nothings during love-making.

McMullen wants to incorporate artificial intelligence (AI) features like Siri to the sex robots, making the experience even more realistic.
