Weatherman loses it after viewers complain about tornado warnings interrupting 'The Bachelorette'

TV weather warnings are a big deal in the United States, especially when there is a very real threat to people's lives.

Some networks like The Weather Channel go to great lengths to show their viewers just how dangerous the conditions outside can be, while others just tell their audience to 'shut up and listen'.

This is exactly what occurred on Monday when Fox 45 had to cut local broadcasts to tell people in Dayton, Ohio, that a severe tornado was on the way and they needed to take care.

However, these warnings happened to interrupt a broadcast of the popular American reality show The Bachelorette, and people soon started to complain that the show had been cancelled for the small reason of their lives being at threat.

Jamie Simpson, the meteorologist who was reporting on the tornadoes, noticed the disgruntled fans comments on social media and gave them a good telling off for being so ignorant and 'pathetic'.

I was just checking social media and we have viewers complaining already - 'just go back to the show.'

No, we're not going back to the show folks. This is a dangerous situation, ok.

Think if this was your neighbourhood? I'm sick and tired of people complaining about this.

Our job here is to keep people safe and that is what we are going to do.

Some of you are saying that this is about my ego. Stop, just stop, right now. It's not.

I'm done with you people, I really am. This is pathetic. This is a dangerous situation here.

Alright, I'm sorry about that. It just really bothers me that we have people that don't care about other people's safety around here. It's just ridiculous.

A clip of Simpson losing his cool and the folks on social media has since been viewed more than one million times on Twitter and it's safe to say that he has become a viral hit.

Despite this, Simpson would appear to have no interest in exploiting this new found fame and has continued to report on the situation where winds reportedly reached 140 mph and refused any interviews.

Even Hannah Brown, who is the bachelorette in the aforementioned show, told people to stay safe - but still found time to have a chuckle.

Unfortunately, this is far from the first time that viewers have been left fuming after the weather disrupted whatever they were watching on television.

Earlier this month a meteorologist in Virginia refused to apologise after the western conference NBA semifinals were also interrupted by a tornado warning.
