Fox reportedly want Trump back on WWE television

Long before he was president of the United States of America and was still a joke figure on reality television, Donald Trump had a brief stint in professional wrestling.

In 2007 he became part of the company's main storyline heading into their biggest show of the year Wrestlemania.

At the event, he managed wrestler Bobby Lashley who was facing Umaga, backed by Trump's on-screen nemesis Vince McMahon, in a match dubbed 'The Battle of the Billionaires' where the loser would have his head shaved.

Trump's man won the match, which resulted in McMahon losing his hair, but not before Trump got physically involved with his counterpart, tackling him to the ground and reigning down the fists, which eventually became an infamous gif that Trump shared in 2017.

That was a long time ago and a lot has changed in the world since then and, barring being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2013, Trump has not returned to that particular form of entertainment.

However, Fox, one of Donald Trump's favourite networks, will soon be broadcasting one of the brand's flagship shows, Smackdown Live and apparently, they think it would be a great idea for the president to return to the world of wrestling.

According to Sportskeeda, Fox staff have reportedly floated the idea of Trump making a brief appearance on the show when it makes its way to their network in October.

Internal email and communications have allegedly encouraged McMahon to contact Trump with Fox seemingly confident that both WWE and the president will 'understand the potential benefits to all parties'.

There is little evidence to suggest that Trump has been asked about making an appearance but one member of the creative team is quoted as saying:

Fox have asked for Trump so I'm trying to write something short and easy for him that makes him look good.

Vince doesn't like us to say anything bad about Trump so I'm just doing the best I can.

McMahon is one of the few people that Trump follows on Twitter so they are obviously still friends and McMahon's wife Linda was a part of the Trump administration as the head of small businesses.

It remains to be seen whether any of this will actually come to pass, but Trump may view it as a potential PR stunt that may improve his floundering ratings, or it could have the complete opposite effect given that WWE aren't exactly ignorant of what's going on in the world right now.
