Great news women, there's finally a way to get the pay you deserve - and it turns out that efficient, competent work is not it.

All you need is a bit of lippy.

Yep, women are paid significantly more money if they are well-groomed in the workplace, a new study has found.

Sociologists Jaclyn Wong and Andrew Penner collected data from more than 14,000 employees and found that there is a link between income and effort-based attractiveness.

This draws on older studies that showed attractive men and women earn 20 per cent more than less conventionally attractive colleagues.

But, this time, researchers found that perceived attractiveness of women, unlike men, was based entirely on how well-groomed she was - specifically, how groomed. Yep, we're thinking the whole works: lipstick, blow-dry and pedicure.

So, if you're a woman who wants to get recognised at work, better spend that hard-earned cash on some makeup brushes. Or you might get financially penalised for not bothering to sculpt your eyebrows.
