Camila Cabello announces 'social media detox' ahead of New Year

Camila Cabello announced she would be taking a social media break ahead of the new year.

She told her 59 million Instagram followers that she would be taking a step away from the platform to spend a “little less time on her phone.”

The Havana singer said: “Going on a lil social media detox till the new year!”

“Just wanna spend a little less time on my phone this week x love y’all,”

Back in November, the 24-year-old announced that she and Shaun Mendes, 23, were parting ways following their two-year relationship. Naturally, fans were devastated.

In a joint statement, they said: “Hey guys, we’ve decided to end our romantic relationship but our love for one another as humans is stronger than ever...

“We started our relationship as best friends and will continue to be best friends.

“We so appreciate your support from the beginning and moving forward.”

The singer has had an array of career highs throughout the year.

Cabello recently performed at the White House for PBS’ In Performance at the White House: Spirit of the Season, with a mariachi rendition of I’ll Be Home for Christmas, which aired on December 21.

Cabello donned a stunning red outfit, wearing a Latin inspired long dress, complete with red gloves and bright red lipstick.

“Such an incredible honor to perform again at the white house,” she shared to Instagram. “Wishing you all a wonderful holiday with your loved ones @potus @flotus  @pbs @mariachihermex”.

This wasn’t the first time the singer appeared at the White House. She first performed for Michelle Obama’s Lets Move campaign during the White House’s Easter Egg Roll back in 2015.

A year later, the singer performed with Fifth Harmony at the 2016 Tree Lighting ceremony for Barack Obama.
