In 2014 Ellen DeGeneres hosted the Oscars and took this selfie, which became the most retweeted tweet of all time.

A simpler time, when TV and Film performers were just that, and not the President.

The title has now been taken by Carter Wilkerson, from Nevada USA, who wanted some chicken nuggets.

While Wilkerson hasn't met the 18 million mark, on Tuesday he broke the Ellen record for most retweets.

Wendy's awarded him a certificate in recognition of this achievement, and donated $100,000 to the fostering and adoption charity the Dave Thomas Foundation (DTFA).

T-shirts reading #NuggsForCarter can be bought on his site, and the money raised goes to DTFA and a local breast cancer charity Pinocchio's Moms on the Run.

Wilkerson was also congratulated by the Guinness Book of World Records.

Speaking on her TV show in the days before Wilkerson's victory, DeGeneres said:

Anyone who retweets Carter's tweet should retweet mine; that way I retain my title.

If I can ride your coat tails to 18 million retweets I'll give you a year's supply of Ellen underwear and this 55-inch Roku TV.

He took the title anyway.
