It took 10 minutes to explain to Trump that North Korea is 'complicated'

United States President Donald Trump met with Chinese President Xi Jinping on 6-7 April at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida.

Over, what he described as...

the most beautiful piece of chocolate cake that you have ever seen

He told the Chinese Premier on the Thursday evening that he had fired 59 missiles at Syria.

He reversed his opinion of China as a "currency manipulator," and later claimed that the talks were part of the reason China abstained on a UN vote to condemn Syrian leader Assad's alleged use of chemical weapons on his own people - a regime that they regularly exercise a veto over in similar votes.

Most shockingly, Trump seems to have revised his opinion over North Korea, based on the Chinese president's explanation of the situation.

Trump told the Wall Street Journal:

After listening for 10 minutes, I realised it’s not so easy

I felt pretty strongly that they had a tremendous power [over] North Korea. ... But it’s not what you would think.

Trump seems to have required that the leader of China explain the complicated history between China and North Korea in a diplomatic meeting, rather than reach a prior opinion with US government sources or experts.

After ten minutes of explanation from a rival in the region, the President is changing his foreign policy opinions.

You'd think he'd seek to be briefed by his government first.
