Ivana Trump, first wife of Donald Trump, dies aged 73

Ivana Trump - the ex-wife of Donald Trump and the mother to Donald Jr, Ivanka and Eric - has died aged 73.
Trump confirmed the news on Truth Social on Thursday, writing: "I am very saddened to inform all of those that loved her, of which there are many, that Ivana Trump has passed away at her home in New York City.”
Ivana, who was born in the former Czechoslovakia in 1949, met Trump in New York in 1976 before getting married the following year. Their first child, Donald Jr, was born 8 months later.
Their second child Ivanka, was born in 1981and what many people might not know is that Ivanka actually has the same name as her mother.
That's right turns out Ivanka Trump isn't who she says she is - in as far as the former first daughter's name is actually something completely different.
In the same way, Donald Trump Jr. was named after as his father, she was named after her mother.
Ivanka is actually a childhood nickname for Ivana, just as Bobby is to Robert. Ivanka is actually a diminutive form of Ivana which literally means 'little Ivana.'

Ivanka confirmed this herself in a tweet she posted way back in 2010 in response to someone who asked her how she got her name. In reply, she wrote: "My actual name is Ivana. In Czech, Ivanka is the baby name for Ivana, like Bobby is to Robert."

Following her mother's death, Ivanka wrote on Twitter: "Heartbroken by the passing of my mother. Mom was brilliant, charming, passionate and wickedly funny. She lived life to the fullest — never forgoing an opportunity to laugh and dance. I will miss her forever and will keep her memory alive in our hearts always."
Her younger brother Eric wrote on Instagram: "It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Ivana Trump. Our mother was an incredible woman — a force in business, a world-class athlete, a radiant beauty, and caring mother and friend. Ivana Trump was a survivor. She fled from communism and embraced this country. She taught her children about grit and toughness, compassion and determination. She will be dearly missed by her mother, her three children and ten grandchildren."
At the time of writing: Donald Jr is yet to comment on his mother's passing.
