Justin Bieber visits ancient Mexican ruins, gets thrown out

Justin Bieber has been asked to leave a Mexican archaeological site after reportedly trying to climb a ruin.

The singer and his entourage were at the ancient Mayan ruins of Tulum.

The National Institute of Anthropology and History confirmed to the Associated Press that the US pop star was "asked to leave" after attempting to scale one of the site's structures.

Mexican officials rope off much of Tulum, but Bieber, apparently on holiday in the area, is believed to have ignored the instructions.

It's not the first time the singer has been in trouble.

However, on this occasion it doesn't seem as though he was trying to be disruptive, and could well have been a simple mistake.

Nathalie Leño, spokeswoman for ecotourist cooperative AllTournative, said Bieber visited on Tuesday and "expressed a lot of interest in the work we do to preserve the environment."

He was completely respectful, and he participated in the welcoming ceremony performed by a local shaman.

He even ate some of the traditional food prepared by local communities.
