Lily Collins has received an outpouring of support after breaking her silence on the backlash to Netflix’s Emily in Paris.
The show follows an American expat who moves to Paris to become a social media influencer.
Despite being a big hit for Netflix, it received largely terrible reviews.
The Guardian gave it a one-star review and called it an “excruciating exorcism of French cliches”.
French critics, in particular, criticised the show for being “insulting” and “caricaturing” them.
Lily Collins, the star of the show, had previously remained silent about the backlash to it.
But, in a recent Vogue Arabia interview, she revealed that the criticism was “disheartening”.
She told Vogue Arabia:
As disheartening as it sometimes is to read these things, it’s also a gift; you’re being allowed to improve.
Fans of Collins sent messages of support after the interview was published.

While Emily in Paris might not have had great reviews, we'll admit to having binge-watched the entire thing.
