Donald Trump’s shock presidential win prompted so many Americans to research a potential move to Canada that it crashed their immigration website.
They’re not the only ones, either - the UK's political woes after Brexit also saw a huge spike in people Googling how to make the move.
But for some, Canada just wasn't far enough away from the Trump-Brexit-worst-year-ever fallout.
So what’s the next reasonable solution? Move to Mars, of course.
Plenty of people have been arguing their case on Twitter:
*wants to move to the UK* BREXIT *ok i'll move to the US* TRUMP *nevermind im moving to mars*— || 1D Updates || (@|| 1D Updates ||) 1478690314
First Brexit, now Donald Trump is president? Nah I might have to go live on Mars or Pluto soon #ElectionNight— General Nasir (@General Nasir) 1478678043
canada? no thanks, i prefer MARS. because i don't want to live in a world where a society would elect a man like Trump.— H A N N A H (@H A N N A H) 1478679093
Arguably, it seems very unrealistic - so people decided to go straight to the source to get some information:
Hey @elonmusk, where you at with that Mars colony?— Jennifer McAuliffe (@Jennifer McAuliffe) 1478713787
Hey @elonmusk how's the WiFi supposed to be on Mars? Asking for a friend.— Marques Brownlee (@Marques Brownlee) 1478695136
Sadly, there's no word as of yet from Nasa or Elon Musk on the matter...
