In her videos, she sometimes dresses up as characters from films Johansson has been in, such as the character Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow who she used to play in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
A clip in which she is dressed as Johansson’s character Black Widow eating a McDonald’s cheeseburger has been viewed over 42.3 million times.
Shumskaya, who is from Russia, also dressed up as Johansson’s character from the film Ghost in the Shell – a role that she was criticised for due to “whitewashing”.
Due to that, Shumskaya has also received backlash for dressing up as her character, with some people saying, “Let’s kill her”.
She told the Daily Mail: “When Scarlett Johansson was accused of ‘whitewashing’ an Asian character in the film Ghost in the Shell, some of the criticism ended up aimed at me, as her lookalike.
“People from all over the world dress up as that character, but they decided to attack me, because I’m a lookalike. It was very unpleasant.”
Shumskaya said she’s been compared to the A-list actress ever since she was younger, and recalled an incident in school when she thought childhood photos of Johansson were of herself.
She said: “Some school friends came up to me when I was around 12 years old and showed me a photo and I was like, ‘Is that me?’
“They said, ‘No, it’s Scarlett Johansson when she was a child,’ and I was really taken aback. So I’ve known I look like her for a while, but I didn’t really think anything of it.”
The 25-year-old has millions of followers and has been able to make a living as a model in Moscow.
