The European map according to the most vegetarian-friendly countries

If you told someone 30 or 40 years ago that you were a vegetarian, chances are they would have looked at you as if you'd just landed from Mars.

Thankfully, things are much different nowadays and now, in the UK at least, vegetarian food is a billion pound industry.

But how does the rest of Europe compare? Using data from happycow.net, one of the largest directories of vegetarian restaurants in the world, cartographer Jakub Marian has plotted the most vegetarian-friendly countries on the continent:

The map shows that Luxembourg leads the way in terms of vegetarian restaurants per 1m people, with Ireland, Slovenia and the UK.
