Trump claims that Biblical literacy classes are 'great', and gets roasted

Another day, another frankly bizarre and extremely misjudged Trump tweet. This time, he's decided to make his views known on studying the Bible.

In a morning tweet, the president praised politicians who have pushed through new legislation that allows public schools to offer an optional elective course in the historical significance of the Bible, reports the Huffington Post.

Taking to Twitter, he wrote:

Numerous states introducing Bible Literacy classes, giving students the option of studying the Bible.

Starting to make a turn back? Great!

The tweet was posted after a Fox & Friends segment that reported that the legislation will be introduced in six states, including North Dakota, Missouri, Indiana, West Virginia, Virginia and Florida.

Needless to say, many Twitter users were quick to suggest that Trump himself could do with brushing up on his scriptural expertise.

Many pointed out his treatment of immigrants is anathema to the scriptures.

It also has a lot to say about how you should treat your neighbour.

Others brought up teachings on adultery...

Many brought up that little thing called separation of the church and state.

Others questioned Trump's motive behind the tweets...

And one summed it up.

President Trump, who identifies as a Presbyterian Christian, has previously claimed that the Bible is his 'favourite book', yet has also suffered a number of high profile public blunders when attempting to discuss scripture.

In 2015, he claimed that his favourite Bible verse is "never bend to envy", which he also claimed is in the Book of Proverbs, however, the Washington Post reports that the verse doesn't exist.
