A mock front page that the Boston Globe published in early 2016 warning against a Trump presidency has turned out to be scarily prophetic.

The front page, 'published' April 10, 2016, featured a number of fictional stories painting a dystopian picture of what the US might become under a Trump administration. Now, however, they're being proven correct.

One of the headlines on the fictional front page read:

Deportations to begin

One eagle-eyed Twitter user noticed the front page and compared it with a tweet the president shared with his followers yesterday, noting how scarily similar they are.

Taking to Twitter, Brian Klaas wrote:

Left: the fake Boston Globe front page from 2016 that imagined what a Trump presidency would look like. At the time, many dismissed it as hyperbolic alarmism.

Right: Trump’s tweet last night. And the trade war headline has come true, too.

Yesterday, Mr Trump shared a tweet to his account in which he said that ICE would begin 'the process of removing millions of illegal aliens who have found their way into the US':

Next week ICE will begin the process of removing the millions of illegal aliens who have illicitly found their way into the United States. They will be removed as fast as they come in. Mexico, using their strong immigration laws, is doing a very good job of stopping people.......

Another of the headlines on the fictional front page read:

Markets sink as trade war looms.

Again, this was proved scarily prophetic, as the Dow has been tumbling in recent weeks over US-China trade fears, according to The Associated Press.

Other Twitter users were quick to point out how eerie the front page was, and how it appears that the worst fears for a Trump presidency are becoming a reality.
