Donald Trump does not appear to be dealing well with the pressure he's under.
As the election result remains unknown, Trump is getting more concerned with the potential that he could lose.
The result is many tweets, falsely asserting voter fraud is happening, and the filing of legal challenges which keep getting thrown out by judges.
Even US news anchors have begun to outrightly condemn his actions.
Which led to CNN’s Anderson Cooper describing Trump in strangely specific language today.
I just fell in love with Anderson Cooper, when he gave the most perfect description of Trump. "We see him like an o… https://t.co/ILCgX4FBYv— Amanda VDM (@Amanda VDM) 1604631223
Speaking about Trump’s latest totally baseless claim that he’s somehow being cheated out of the election, Cooper said:
It is sad and it is truly pathetic.
Of course it is dangerous and of course it will go to court.
You will notice the president didn’t have any evidence at all [...] no real, actual evidence of any kind of fraud [...] he talked about things he’d seen on the internet.
That is the president of the United States, that is the most powerful in the world and we see him like an obese turtle on his back flailing in the hot sun, realizing his time is over.
But he just hasn’t accepted it and he wants to take everybody down with him, including this country.
Some people immediately praised Cooper for his choice of words, saying they were “beautifully said”.
Beautifully said. Much love to Daily Caller for sharing this excellent clip from Anderson Cooper. https://t.co/Z05hOClqRO— Berny Belvedere (@Berny Belvedere) 1604629462
But others weren’t so sure.
People thought it verged on ‘fat-shaming’.
This may be an unpopular opinion but I’m not crazy about the obese turtle thing or that Oatmeal illustration. A lot… https://t.co/eVUXvmdaM6— Rich Burroughs (@Rich Burroughs) 1604627985
It “wasn’t funny”.
Not all of you laughing at Anderson’s “Obese Turtle” comment. Fat-shaming isn’t funny no matter who it’s directed at.— Savannah (@Savannah) 1604634719
Some said there were other ways to get the point across without fat-shaming Trump and insulting all fat individuals.
The Anderson Cooper quote could have been just as effective without the fat-shaming. There are plenty of ways to cr… https://t.co/th9K9H8oKP— Jill 😷 (@Jill 😷) 1604626878
But others disagreed.
They said it was a neutral descriptor.
Others said it was an accurate representation of obese turtles.
@jenniferemorrow I was thinking this too... Cooper isn't fat shaming he's just actually seen an obese turtle flail.… https://t.co/2RYVJn9lGn— 🌈Allie Wojtaszek🧡 (@🌈Allie Wojtaszek🧡) 1604646157
But many fat people weren’t impressed.
Oh cool, people are using "obese" to insult someone, then insisting it's a neutral term. Again. Neat.— Aubrey Gordon (she/her/hers) (@Aubrey Gordon (she/her/hers)) 1604637454
Listen, there’s so much to criticise about Donald Trump, do we really need to resort to this?
