It’s coming up to two years since Donald Trump became president of the United States and many people are still feeling nostalgic about Obama’s presidency.

The difference between the two presidents was once again made abundantly clear in their New Year’s messages on Twitter.

While Trump wrote his message entirely in caps lock and told people to “CALM DOWN" and "ENJOY THE RIDE", Obama obviously took a more measured approach.

Obama wrote:

In 2018 people stepped up and showed up like never before.

Keep it up in 2019, we’ve got a lot of work to do, and I’ll be right there with you. Happy New Year, everybody!

On the weekend leading up to New Year's day, Obama also shared some of the young leaders who had inspired him in 2018.

Obama's New Year's messages have prompted lots of people to comment on how much they miss his presidency.

As Joni Mitchell once sang, "you don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone".
