Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ayanna Pressley and Rashida Tlaib were present as Michael Cohen, former attorney and fixer to president Donald Trump testified before the House Oversight Committee.
Cohen was sentenced to three years prison and ordered to pay $50,000 (£37782.25) for tax evasion, lying to Congress during Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election, as well as making false statements to a financial institution and unlawful excessive campaign contributions.
He dropped bomb after bomb about Donald Trump as members of Congress – including Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez – grilled him.
A photo has been circulating around the internet depicting the three congresswomen, all of whom have broken records with their historic appointments.
Look at all the melanin and power in this photo:
Pressley's resting smirk face. Ocasio-Cortez' "Oh really? You're going to go there?" expression and Tlaib's permanent state of "Just, no."
It's. Brilliant.
Rashida Tlaib is the first Palestinian-American to hold a congressional seat, AOC is the youngest person to hold a seat and Pressley became Massachusetts’ first black congresswoman.
Breaking rules and taking no prisoners.
The picture is seen as an empowering, fiery representation of non-white voices in congress, as well as the strength of female minorities.
It depicts the three women as they awaited their turns to question Cohen, and it’s basically #slay in a picture.
In fact, Pressley was loving it, too
And of course Ocasio-Cortez, who expertly grilled Cohen and - significantly - set up further lines of enquiry about his claims.
Qweens.
