In such polarised times, political beef has become the norm.
But political point-scoring and bickering is now no longer reserved to politicians. Thanks to social media, actors and musicians can’t help but getting in on the act just like the rest of us mortals.
Actresses Susan Sarandon and Debra Messing have been embroiled in a long-running feud since the 2016 election. Sarandon threw her support behind socialist Bernie Sanders and eventually Green Party candidate Jill Stein, with Messing supporting democratic candidate Hillary Clinton. Throughout the campaign, Sarandon frequently described Clinton as "more dangerous" than Trump, frustrating many of Trump's opponents.
Despite these women both being on the left of centre, there’s still plenty to disagree on. Last May, Sarandon even called Messing “Trumpian” and “misinformed”.
But this time it’s the Will & Grace star’s turn to fire back.
After Sarandon made the incredulous claim that Trump had “inspired” women and people of colour to run for office, Messing didn’t “mess” around taking her to task in an epic Twitter thread.
