Despite Jim Murphy's best intentions, things are looking increasingly bleak for Labour in Scotland

Donald Trump, who loves a manual retweet, has a tendency to be tricked into reposting bogus messages. This weekend it was the turn of Twitter user Sproatocastie who sent this message featuring Scottish Labour leader Jim Murphy (real age 47).

Wishful thinking then from the man who may well run for president in 2016 (that's Trump, not Murphy).

Talking of wishful thinking, the Scottish Labour leader took to the streets of Glasgow on Monday morning to try to convince people in the city to vote for his party, just days after one shock poll forecast that the SNP could win every seat north of the border - leaving Labour with none.

As he stood on his soapbox, alongside celebrity Labour canvasser Eddie Izzard (who as you'll see below looked less than impressed to be there), a group of SNP supporters gatecrashed the event and started chanting "red Tories out".

Although somehow, quite skilfully, Murphy managed to hijack the chant and turn it into "get the Tories out".

Captured here by Channel 4's Alex Thomson:

However, the event was soon cancelled as Murphy and Izzard jumped in a car and made a hasty getaway.

Poor Jim.
