Britain's most generous towns have been revealed in figures released by online fundraising platform JustGiving.

JustGiving based its figures on the number of donations and the amount raised in comparison to the population of each town.

Percentage of population who have donated

1. Bedford (52%)

2. Cambridge (38%)

3. Reading (36%)

4. Bristol (31%)

5. Brentwood (29%)

6. Cheltenham (29%)

7. Norwich (28%)

8. Woking (28%)

9. Aberdeen (26%)

10. High Wycombe (26%)

Average donations per giver

1. Sevenoaks (£42.29)

2. Harpenden (£40.71)

3. London (£40.68)

4. Leatherhead (£38.40)

5. Teddington (£38.14)

6. Rickmansworth (£37.06)

7. Ilford (£36.19)

8. Pinner (£36.06)

9. St. Albans (£35.82)

10. Harrow (£35.37)
