Woman furious after stranger refuses to change her dog's name after she wanted to call her child the same thing

Sometimes you stumble across a story online that is too funny and too ridiculous not to share.

This is one of those stories.

Twitter user Craig Pendlebury shared a frankly bizarre interaction between someone called Jennay and an unnamed pregnant woman who really, really wanted to name her daughter "Tillie".

The message exchange begins amicably enough.

“Hello Jennay,” the unnamed woman wrote. “We met at Koly and Blake’s christening.”

Jennay responded in kind: “Hi, Yeah I remember, it was a while ago now. How are you and your family?”

The woman revealed that she was “pregnant again” which was why she was messaging the woman.

After sending congratulations, Jennay askedf if she needed “a hand with cattle” implying that the mother of four lived on a farm.

Nope, no need for cattle help – there was something else on the mind of the mum-to-be.

I don’t need help with cattle and we’re excited to [sic].

And then, finally the reason the woman messaged became clear.

We want to name her Tillie but it’s come to my attention you have a dog named Tilly and I’d appreciate you changing the dogs name lol. Obviously she can’t have the same name as a dog and we’re bound to bump into each other.

Uh…

Jennay answered nicely and firmly.

Yeah nah I see.

Hey mate I don’t think it’s necessary to change my Tilly’s name; I don’t think you’ll ever see her and I don’t think anyone will notice they’ve got the same name anyway.

Instead of an understanding, “OK that’s fair, I admit it’s unreasonable to demand someone I hardly know to change the name of their dog because I want it for my child,” the unnamed woman became very, very irate.

I can’t express how I feel right now. I’m so disappointed and let down in you Jennay. People say you’re a nice person but I can see you have then [sic] tricked. You don’t have children you’ll never understand how a mother can love and just want the best for this perfect little person.

She went on to say the fact that Jennay isn’t changing her dog’s name is going to impact her unborn child’s future.

This is going to impact her life and potentially ruin her confidence and life

…and said Jennay “doesn’t deserve” her good family.

You are a piece of work and don’t deserve your good family.

Jennay is “ruining a babies [sic] life.”

Jennay remained undeterred.

I’m not going to change Tilly’s name mate. Have a good one and congrats again hey

But the woman wasn’t done.

No f**k you.

This isn’t over Jennay and I’ll be talking to Shareen and Glen about this shell [sic] be disgusted in you just like I am. You’re a disgrace.

And then.

Please reconsider.
