Donald Trump can't even remember the date of 9/11

Donald Trump’s national field director resigned on Monday amidst a “shakeup” in his campaign management team.

But if you were worried that the Republican frontrunner was putting his outspoken, gaffe-prone days behind him, then fear not...

At a Republican rally in Buffalo, New York, on Monday evening he was on top form:

What I wanna do, is just talk for a second… I wrote this out and it’s very close to my heart and I was down there and I watch our police and our firemen down at 7/11, down at the World Trade Center right after it came down. And I saw the greatest people I’ve ever seen in action.

The Twin Towers of the World Trade Center were attacked, and subsequently collapsed, on September 11, 2001 and resulted in the deaths of almost 3,000 people.

Which is, er, 9/11. Not 7/11, which, incidentally, is the name of a convenience store in the US...

Donald, you should probably write that down somewhere.

You would think that he'd correct himself, given how sensitive a topic it is?

No, he did not.

I saw the bravest people I have ever seen including the construction workers, including every person down there - that’s what New York values are about.
