Donald Trump used a rally in Florida to talk about his controversial immigration ban - which was halted by federal judges - as well as weighing in on terror attacks in Europe.

The highlight of his lengthy speech was what he had to say about Brussels, Nice and Paris – all of which experienced terror attacks in the last few months. But it was what he said about terrorism in Sweden that got people scratching their heads.

You look at what’s happening in Germany, you look at what’s happening last night in Sweden – Sweden – who would believe this? Sweden? They took in large numbers, they’re having problems like they never thought possible…

What happened in Sweden?

People on the internet figured Sweden could shed some light on the subject, and hundreds of messages were sent to the @Sweden Twitter account, currently looked after by Swede Emma Johansson, or ‘kseenaa’. She had the unfortunate task of calling out the US president for being wrong.

Because according to er Sweden, nothing happened. Nothing.

All the news in the country has been about a music competition. No terror attacks to speak of.

Seriously, Sweden is okay.

Johansson is participating in the project Curators of Sweden, a 2011 initiative from the Swedish Institute and Visit Sweden which puts a different citizen in charge of the Sweden Twitter account every week.

So Donald Trump appears to have invented the existence of a terror incident...?

Oh hello there Sean Spicer and Kellyanne Conway - both of whom referenced fictional terror attacks as though they were real.

The White House hasn’t yet come out with a clarifying statement about what the president was referring to, but speculation online says he may have been watching a Tucker Carlson segment about Sweden, on Fox News.

And you know the best thing about Trump's flirtation with 'fake news'?

Johannsson, the woman that is going viral for fact-checking the US president, is a librarian.

The irony is not lost.
