We all know Donald Trump has a somewhat confusing relationship with facts.
But nowhere is his story more confusing than when it comes to his relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Amid revelations that Trump’s attorney general Jeff Sessions met with the Russian ambassador twice during the US presidential campaign, Trump and his administration are facing renewed scrutiny over their relationship with Russia.
So this video, showing Trump’s somewhat mixed messages over his relationship with Russia’s president, are particularly pertinent.
MSNBC released this video, showing Trump answering questions about his relationship with Putin over the past four years.
In July 2016, Trump was asked, ‘What exactly is your relationship with Vladimir Putin?’
Trump answered: ‘I have no relationship with Vladimir Putin
In November 2013, Trump was asked, ‘Do you have a relationship with Vladimir Putin?’
Trump replied: ‘I do have a relationship’
In July 2016, Trump said:
I have nothing to do with Putin. I’ve never spoken to him, I don’t know anything about him other than he will respect me.
In March 2014, Trump said:
I was in Moscow coupe of months ago… and they treated me so great. Putin even sent me a present. Beautiful present with a beautiful note. I spoke to all of his people.
In November 20 15, Trump said:
I got to know him very well because we were both on (TV programme) 60 Minutes.
But in July 2016, Trump said:
We did 60 Minutes together. By the way, not together together.
In May 14, Trump said:
I spoke directly and indirectly with President Putin, who could not have been nicer.
And in October 2016, he said:
I don’t know Putin. I have no idea, I’ve never met Putin, this is not my best friend.
