George Galloway criticised after giving backing to Nigel Farage's Brexit Party in European elections

George Galloway isn't a name that you hear very often anymore, which is probably for the best.

The former MP and Celebrity Big Brother contestant has become something of an obscure figure in the current political climate, spearheading those on the left who support Brexit - or as it has come to be known, 'Lexit'.

With the prospect of leaving the EU anytime soon looking as likely as watching Game of Thrones without it being spoilt, Galloway has controversially offered his support to Nigel Farage's newly formed Brexit Party, who will be contesting next month's European elections.

In a tweet, the former Labour party member said that he had made the decision based on some Labour MPs opposition to Brexit and the referendum result.

Galloway later added that this was a tactical decision before lashing out at anti-Brexit activists.

This little outburst against those trying to prevent Brexit might have been spurred on by the ridicule that Galloway received on Twitter after announcing his support for Farage's new party, which was just a little too easy to mock.

Others weren't surprised by Galloway's announcement.

Even Labour MP Owen Smith lent his voice to the criticism of Galloway, which led to a little back and forth between the pair.

Still, it's worth remembering that in 2014, Galloway wanted to remain in the EU. How times change, aye?
