Jodie Comer says she didn't invite parents to Emmys because she didn't think she'd win

Last night was the 71st Primetime Emmy Awards, and as always many of the awards handed out (or not) were the source of controversy.

One controversy-free decision, however, was awarding Jodie Comer the Emmy for Lead Actress in a Drama Series for Killing Eve. Fans were pretty thrilled for her, but one person who didn’t actually expect to win was... Comer herself.

In her speech, in the thick scouse accent that still surprises Killing Eve fans, Comer said thanks to her parents, who she didn't invite to the show because she didn't think she would win.

My mum and dad who are in Liverpool, who I didn't invite because I didn't think this was going to be my time. One, I'm sorry. Two, I love you and I'm going to bring it home.

The actress also thanked co-star Sandra Oh, and naturally, got a little bit emotional.
