Man tries out new 'exotic' sex position, snaps penis

A 59-year-old man has snapped his penis during sexual intercourse.

According to Tuoi Tre News, the unnamed Vietnamese man was admitted to a Ho Ch Minh City hospital in late September, with a swollen and bruised genital.

The paper quotes his doctor Mai Ba Tien Dung:

The case of this 59-year-old patient is rare, occurring only once out of a thousand cases of broken penises recorded in medical literature

The rareity of his condition matches the alleged severity. Tuoi Tre News recounts the man from Binh Thuan Province's story, that he heard a 'crack' sound coming from his erect penis while trying an 'exotic' sex position.

The member became purple and discoloured, which then spread across the rest of his penis and scrotum.

An MRI scan showed a tear around the fixed portion of the urethra, approximately two-centimetres in size. There was also excessive bleeding at the right cavernous body of the penis.

According to doctor Dung, the breaking of cavernous bodies can occur during erection. The 'crack' sound and pain are symptoms of this break.

Surgery was carried out the following day involving stiching to the fibrous envelope, which encloses the cavernous bodies of the penis.

Speed was necessary, as without timely surgery, it can result in a deformed or curved penis, erectile dysfunction, pain during erection and impotence, among other possible consequences.

It has not been confirmed what sexual position the man was attempting when the 'crack' occured.
